Is There a Place For You as an Event Planner?

By: Pharice Brown

There are two markets for events, corporate and social.  Corporate can also include charities and nonprofit organizations.  Because these entities seek to increase their visibility they utilize special events to increase their consumers and contributors.

What Does an Event Planner ‘Really” Do?

What Does an Event Planner ‘Really” Do?

If you read our post ‘What is Event Planning?’ you now have an idea of what an event is and a short list of the types of functions that are considered events. It is important to say that, being an event planner is no easy job and can require evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Because you will be contacting other businesses there are going to be a lot of work to be done during what are considered core business hours. The amount of time, and when, you have to commit will be based on your specialty and type of event.

Showing Support For Breast Cancer Cure

Image

Many of our lives have been touched by someone that has or had cancer; or know someone that does. With the recent diagnosis of caner for a friend and many others that have lost the battle to breast cancer; our fearless leader, Pharice, is doing more than just walking or running in this year’s Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure™.

She is fundraising because the Washington, D.C. Metro Area still has one of the highest breast cancer mortality rates in the nation. And I believe that where you live should not determine whether you live.

She also is raising funds because she has lost loved ones and friends to breast cancer.

She is asking for your help. You can give online, safely and securely, athttp://globalrace.info-komen.org/site/TR/GlobalRaceForTheCure/KomenGlobalRace?px=14084114&pg=personal&fr_id=2896

Up to 75 percent of funds from the Komen Global Race for the Cure support local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs throughout the National Capital Area, including Washington, D.C., and parts of Virginia and Maryland. The remaining funds support Susan G. Komen for the Cure®’s work around the globe, sharing knowledge and experience and to fund education and breast health services in regions where few exist.

Thank you. Your generosity saves lives!

Sincerely,

Marissa Lewis, PIT

DIY More than Weddings

diy_wedding_centerpieces_21

Article By: Mandee

Yes, DIY Wedding and Event Decor is full of ideas for weddings but, remember, most of these ideas can also transfer to other events likes rehearsal dinners, cocktail parties, birthdays, showers, anniversary parties, fundraising gala, proms, school dances and the like.

Centerpieces, themes, table layouts, buffets, decor ideas can apply to all kinds of events. Just because an idea is written with a wedding reception in mind, doesn’t mean you can’t adapt it for your own event.

Becoming inspired for your event, whatever it is, the one of the main goals here. You may not be able to use all the ideas included for your particular theme or scheme, but you might also be inspired by one of the ideas so you can build it and make it your own.

Look through the category drop down box on the sidebar for the element or theme you are planning to use. Click through to the articles that deal with this/these and prepare to get lots of ideas. You’ll sift through them later and decide if they are something you can use, adapt or chuck.

The point is, in the beginning you need a lot of information to stimulate and get your planning muscles working. The internet has made a world of difference in research. There are billions of pages out there and lots will deal with your main goal.  Find them and use them! Your event will be better off for having done this.
